Emberfall Chronicle

★★★★★ 4.7 Editor rating

Emberfall Chronicle is the kind of RPG you start for ten minutes and look up two hours later. The combat is turn-based but quick, with a clever stagger system that rewards reading enemy patterns instead of spamming your strongest skill. Building a party that covers each other's weaknesses becomes genuinely satisfying.

The writing is better than it has any right to be on mobile. Companions have their own arcs, and a few mid-game choices actually changed how later scenes played out for me. Controls are all touch-based menus, which keeps the battles readable even on a smaller screen.

My one tip: don't rush the side quests. Several of them hand you gear and party members that make the mid-game bosses far less painful. Early on, invest in a healer you like, because you'll be leaning on them a lot.
