Harborline Tycoon: The Mistakes That Sank My First Port

August 16, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

My first harbour in Harborline Tycoon went bankrupt, and in hindsight every mistake was avoidable. I built for show instead of for flow, and the whole thing seized up.

The biggest error was adding berths faster than I could unload them. Ships piled in, cargo backed up, and captains left unhappy. More docking space is useless if your cranes and warehouses can't keep pace.

So the rule I'd give any new player: upgrade logistics before capacity. Fatter cranes and bigger warehouses turn each existing berth into a money-maker, and that steady income funds safe expansion later.

Watch your cargo-flow indicator the way you'd watch supply in a strategy game. When it starts backing up, stop expanding and invest in throughput instead. Patience genuinely pays here.

Once I rebuilt with that mindset, the game turned into one of those relaxing 'just one more cycle' sims that ate an entire evening without me noticing.
